| Aurora Computer Services Ltd is a UK company,
established in October 1998, as a software development company specialising
in the emerging biometrics market and focusing on Face Recognition technologies.
Early funding was provided by five business angels, and in June 2001,
Aurora received further investment by Nobel Grossart Investments Ltd
(Edinburgh) to allow expansion.
The company has a highly experienced management
team, and Board of Directors. There are two executive directors:
- Hugh Carr-Archer, Chief Executive Officer is
the former Executive Chairman of SIMS Ltd – a highly successful
software house in the education sector, that grew from start up
to about 300 employees whilst Hugh was there. Very profitable from
its early days, SIMS was the subject of a successful trade sale
to Capita Group plc.
Since Aurora was established, Hugh has overseen the formation and growth
of the company. He is responsible for the general running of the company,
whilst assisting with major sales, financial and personnel activities.
- Patrick Usher, Technical Director was
formerly an Associate Director at SIMS Ltd (see above), where he
led the largest development team in the company.
At Aurora, Patrick has continued to lead a superb development team, whilst
liaising with customers to interpret their needs and producing software that
is extremely user friendly, yet rich in functionality.
There are also two non-executive directors:
- Roger Brown, Non - Executive Director, is a
Director of Noble Grossart Limited and Noble Grossart Investments
Limited. He is a qualified accountant with wide ranging experience
spanning a number of industries . As well as having investment,
banking and legal experience, Roger brings substantial wealth of
relevant and practical business experience.
- David Houghton, Non - Executive Director, is
one of Aurora's major and longest serving shareholders, who joined
the Board towards the end of 2004, to assist in the running of the
business. David brings a wealth of practical, successful
experience in business, which commenced forty years ago when he
started his own business.
Aurora has in total around two dozen shareholders,
with directors owning about half of the shares.
The company has already
grown quite significantly since it was established, and has in place a
highly motivated and dedicated workforce, who share the company ethos
of putting customers’ needs first and always delivering on promises.
The company directors believe that our hundreds of installed operational
FaceRec systems exceed sales of FaceRec for all other UK companies
combined.
Aurora operates out of purpose built premises
near Northampton.
