What does AFM do?

AFM is a standalone location and analysis product that automatically searches videotape or video files for facial images as well as movement. A summary database is then produced of all frames where either motion or faces have been detected. Faces of individuals that have been found can then be transferred into the Gallery system (see Gallery page for information on this product) to search for matches in a database of known images.

What are the benefits?

  • Huge time saving potential for security personnel – to prevent staff from having to sit for hours in front of a screen, prone to tiredness and lapses in concentration. This way staff can be freed up for other professional duties, whilst AFM runs through the video and produces a detailed analysis of the information found.

  • Parts of the screenshot can be ‘masked’ or ‘cropped’, to allow concentration on sections of the screen where required (or to avoid such things as a tree blowing in the wind).

  • Many technical parameters can be set to maximise performance, for example one option is the automatic ‘culling’ of repeat images.

  • Clear presentation of images found, with image magnification for closer inspection.
  • Frames captured with movement or facial images can be matched, deleted or stored for future analysis.

  • Images can be passed to our Gallery product for comparison with known suspects on existing databases.

  • Combination of potential increases in detection rates with possible reductions in costs – AFM is able to both aid performance and impact beneficially on the bottom line.

Who is already using the system?

Current customers include three UK Police Forces.
