eGallery

eGallery uses sophisticated facial recognition technology to allow police staff to compare a facial image with a database of stored faces. This will invariably be the custody database, often containing hundreds of thousands of images.

eGallery is currently proving to be a powerful investigative tool. It is assisting investigations by allowing a search of a custody database for an unidentified suspect. The source of the image of the suspect can be from CCTV, shop video, surveillance photograph,  e-fit/cd-fit or even mobile phone.

eGallery is web-enabled and can therefore be used across a force intranet. Users are not restricted by the location of the database and can, as such, use the system from wherever the force decides.

Unidentified suspects can be identified within seconds

" The use of images is rapidly becoming the third forensic science alongside fingerprints and DNA"
